Build Back Stronger- Build Back Smarter. BRASS ALA 2022 Program: LaMonica Wiggins

Meet LaMonica

LaMonica Wiggins is the Entrepreneurship and Economics Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh. In her position, she supports students, faculty, staff and the public with small business research including competitive and patent analysis. She develops outreach programs to address disparities in the entrepreneurial experience for African American, women and other disenfranchised entrepreneurs. She collaborates with government and nonprofit organizations to design services for Pittsburgh-based entrepreneurs.

Lunchroom Social

Originally a six-week program, the Lunchroom is a social innovation pitch competition designed to give students the basic business skills needed to start a social or technology-based venture. Through weekly remote meetups, expert speakers and interactive virtual activities, the students are developing a business that addresses a need in their communities. Under the guidance of university and community practitioners each week, the students tackle topics such as ideation, product creation, business planning and financial literacy, market research, and pitching an opportunity before investors.
